Having a dog around the house is great. They can clean up leftovers, be you snuggle partner, and keep watch of the house at night. While these are definitely some great perks of having an indoor dog, it does come with a minor cost. Specifically, I am referring to your furniture. No matter how many times you groom your dog or get them a haircut, their hair is certain to end up on some of your furniture. The best ways to get dog hair off furniture include: rubber gloves, sponge, damp cloth, vacuum cleaner, and mop.

Rubber Gloves

Rubber gloves are the fastest and easiest way to get dog hair off furniture. All you have to do is put the rubber glove on your hand and run it through some water (if you are cleaning something made from leather, only put a little bit of water on the glove). Then, simply rub the damp glove over the furniture, and static energy will magically cause the hair to stick to the glove. Once the glove is full of hair, rinse it off in the sink and repeat. 

Sponge

A sponge is another great way to get dog hair off furniture if you don’t have a rubber glove. Dampen the green, rougher side of the sponge, and then rub it against the furniture. Just like the rubber glove, the hair will attach itself to the sponge.

Vacuum Cleaner

A vacuum is another great option if your furniture isn’t delicate or fragile. Just run the vacuum over the furniture at a low suction, and the dog hair should come right off. It is best to use a portable hand vacuum cleaner for this. 

Damp Cloth

If you are getting dog hair off wooden furniture, it is best to use a soft cloth. Just dampen the cloth and run it over the furniture.  This should collect the dog hair. Make sure afterwards to dry off the wood so you don’t make any stains. 

Mop

Lastly, you can use a mop to get dog hair off of furniture. This method works best on furniture that is made out of wood. We recommend only soaking the mop in water, as some soaps can cause stains on the wooden furniture.
